(AND MISTAKES I'VE MADE, FROM THINGS I'M STILL LEARNING ALONG THE WAY... - SW)
People often say to me, 'You are good at Business!', but the truth is I am NOT. However, I AM good at surrounding myself with people who ARE! For how to Build an Online Store for Beginners, I handed it over to someone who knows much more then me, Adriana Tedaldi, our Digital Product Manager at SAMANTHA WILLS. Adriana was one of the key point people heading up our new website launch, and knows more about digital then I ever will....

….if you could find a way to feature/answer any/all of these questions, it would be a huge help not only to me but I'm sure the other overwhelmed/daunted/scared shitless bussinesswomen-to-be that I'm convinced are out there!
DONE! - SW
We are in our 13th year of business this year, and in that time I have witnessed four (including this one) SW website builds. Each bigger & better then the next, not just as our team & budget increased, but as technology evolved. But before you check out our new baby, there is a god send of a site, that like the internet was intended, never forgets. If you so care to time travel for a second,
I was recently asked to write a piece on how to ‘Get your name out there’ when you are starting out in a new venture. Unless you shoot to 15 minutes of fame with a huge scandal (read; sex tape), get arrested doing something illegal & outrageous (....if you’re going to that trouble, make sure its SUPER scandalous to get the media coverage!) , or marry Prince Harry (get in line) – then its going to be about consistence, core messaging, quality… and time.
READER QUESTION: ‘I was wondering your thoughts on launching a brand or product. The timing of everything from media releases, social media teasers to the actual launch of the product. Do you have any tips or advice on this?’
You may be a Blogger Slash Model Slash DJ Slash Designer Slash Actress Slash Rollerskater – But with every slash, your message gets more & more diluted. Pick, stick, and add value to your message....
I was emailed this question recently, from an entrepreneur that has been in business almost a year.: Q. What do you do when there is someone SO big (in your direct industry/’competition’), you feel you just can't compete?
The question I get asked most is 'How do I get my product featured in magazines?' - There are many avenues you can take to secure media placement, but the thing you need first, is a good Media Kit.
The Brand Guidelines is a document constructed specifically for internal use. It is a very useful tool for creatives, who are shaping the voice & feel of the brand, and to ensure everyone is on the same page....
You are your harshest critic. No-one else really cares what you look like. They are more interested in themselves. They do care, however, about how you treat them and others. Give yourself a break once in a while. - Karina Jaya-Ratnam
I haven’t started this ‘note before I die’ so that death is feared - I like the fact that we are mostly ignorant to it’s inevitability..... I just want people to stop worrying so much about the small, meaningless stresses in life and try to remember that we all have the same fate after it all so do what you can to make your time feel worthy and great, minus the bullshit....
Dad was in the middle of his story, and that’s what I hated the most. There was still so much to do, and selfishly, so much more I wanted us to do together. - Stevie Dillon
I’m going with the flow and seeing what happens. For the first time in my entire life, I feel carefree and somewhat proud of how I have resurrected myself. Although, it was total touch and go for a while there. - Sarah McLean
I wish I could see what others see when they look at me. I am still trying to find acceptance for myself and I wish I could get there. - Lauren Smith
Invest in your relationships. Including your relationship with yourself. If you are your harshest critic, cut yourself some slack and silence that nasty voice in your head. If you wouldn’t talk about someone else that way, then you shouldn’t talk about yourself like that. - Rosalie Molloy
The magnitude of what’s possible without procrastination and by breaking goals down into small daily steps! I know it seems simple, but when you actually ritualise doing it, I’ve found it’s incredible what’s possible. - Lilli Boisselet
We each carry you with us throughout our lives now, throughout our joys and our troubles and hope to live up to the standard that you set for us as women. But most of all I hope to put you at ease and let you know that you can take a breather from worrying about your youngest daughter for a while.

I painted our logo in my apartment in NYC. The arrows in our logo have significance. The darker blush arrows signify women who are well established in their career or journey, representative of the effect of not only pioneering the way, but mentoring & giving back to those just starting out on the journey; the arrows that follow. As you learn more in your journey, your arrow gets more color, more depth, more experience - and no matter what part of the journey you are on, you are always passing knowledge & help onto those who follow. The end product being that when women work together, something incredible & powerful is created.
