I’m incredibly humbled to be recognized as a ‘Woman Who: Cares’ in this series. I am also very proud to work alongside a team of women (& men) within the @SamanthaWillsOfficial business, that all share the same values. ⠀
I have been a long time believer that there is no ‘need’ for what we do in the fashion industry, we are privileged to be able to work in an industry of ‘want’. It is for that reason, & more so now than ever that I believe brands need to be so much more than just the product we sell. If you product is your ‘what’, than your brand is your ‘why’. ⠀
‘Why’ are we doing this? Is a question I ask myself, & my team often. What legacy are we leaving? As Women? As a brand with a strong female following? What a privilege is to have an audience who are gracious enough to engage with us, what are we going to do with that privilege? ⠀
To me CARE goes beyond being nice to your followers, or having a caring customer service department; that should be a given. To me, CARE is about actively finding ways to give back, its about showing conscious kindness. It could be financial, donations, product, time, awareness, mentoring. ⠀
The opportunities for this will change over time, and as business, brands and individuals have growing online platforms, I believe it is powerful to look at those platform as microphones. What do you want to stand for? How do you want to help?
As a brand we are very proud of our ongoing affiliations with charities, our focus on conscious kindness with our customers and our focus on Empowering Women In Business with the @SamanthaWillsFoundation ⠀I hope that the SAMANTHA WILLS brand leaves a legacy of Care.
When I have the opportunity to present our brand story, my closing question is always, "Business is black & white, P&L; its ‘What’ you do. I really encourage you to get excited about your brand, because that is ‘Why’ you are doing it. Don’t ask yourself what it is you want to do, ask yourself why you are doing it? Ask yourself what you want your legacy to be.” - SWx
